Dreadlock culture is from africa (etiophia and Jamaika), which recognized by people of etiophia and Jamaica which known as "Rasta". Rasta averse modern kristen and they suspect as borjuis. Even they gave the name Rasta as their religion. Rastafarian Doctrine is back to nature. There are five main attribute of Rasta : Live near with nature even in forest, Vegetarian, Must clean their body, far from modern culture, dreadlock and smoking, even opium or marijuana.
Maybe every day rastafarian must take a bath but not use soap (soap known as modern culture) and maybe because every day they must clean their hair, so their hair afterward become dreadlock. But rastafarian which live in town maybe use barbershop to keep their dreadlock hair.

MARAPU is one from so much raggae band from Yogyakarta. This band mould in 10 November 2000. Genre music is reggae. The name MARAPU taken from the flow of sumba animism public belief, which means “hidden”. This band Starting from the beginning because often converge together with friends which have similarity hobies in reggae music.

Marapu show events start from campus to campus, and become familiar in “mapala” (Mahasiswa Pencinta Alam) community in Yogyakarta . Before they write their own song, always sing a song from other band. Because show much people whos like their show, afterward they start to write own song and sing in the campus, school, or if there any events, they always follow thats events. In 2003 MARAPU make a demo song that is 3 pieces Mawar funky, Terulang and enough, which was always turn on in the so many radio in Jogjakarta, but not only in Yogyakarta, makasar, Bali, Sumba radio also turn their song.

My Opinion About Reggae Music

In Indonesia Reggae music not so public. Its because Indonesian people consider reggae music identic with ganja or marijuana which contradicty with culture in Indonesia. More oldest people said that reggae musician contravene indonesian culture, so some reggae musician finaly go to other country which can accept reggae music.

For me reggae music is fantastic music. When we learn word "reggae" , I said reggae is peace. I loved reggae music and reggae music is a part of my life. Music is not only amusement and reggae is not only music, but its a part of life style. And Reggae have a content about more life value and philosophy. When speak about reggae, we know Bob marley. Actually there are more terrific big name .

Indonesian music need media communication, because music has universal philosophy. and reggae must become part ofindustry and industry also must consider reggae as asset.
Learning reggae community is more important and more to do some positif element. Not only dreadlock and marijuana, coz reggae philosophy is more deep anddimensional. Reggae not only simbolik affair.

I'm very respect with all of reggae musician in Indonesia. I hope all reggae musician in Indonesia more think about education element, coz reggae has spirit of convergent or strong brotherhood , thas constructive spirit to indonesian people, so reggae spirit more become a universal language and not only have by reggae music lover and can be accepted by more people. So i hope reggae community not be broken.

Guitar: Rhythm-Typicaly Plays chords on the 2 and 4 beat, known as the skank or bang. The guitar has a scratchy, short choppy sound and is played almost like a percussion instrument. Lead-Most of the time an octave higher than bass, will add a melodic rock or blues style solo to a song. Emphasis the bass melody.

Instruments : Keys And Horn

Keys: Typicaly Piano follows the lead guiitars skank and playing chords in a choppy staccato(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staccato) style. Since th 80 hthe 80s has b been repllaced bd by synththesiizers whih hich allso replace the horn section in many modern bands.
Orggan Shuffle-The 8th beats are ppylayed with a sppace-left-right-left-space-left-right-left pattern. Usually low in the mix and more felt than heard.
Horns--Sometimes replaced with synth or samples Sometimes replaced with synth or samples. Frequently used in introductions and counter- melodies. Include sax, trumpet, trombone. First horn plays melody second horn plays same melody 1 octaveplays melody, second horn plays same melody 1 octave higher and third plays an octave and a fifth. Usually played soft but sometimes can be played louder for an aggressive up-tempo sound.

Bob Marley

Was born Was born Neville Neville O'Riley' Livingston April 10, 1947 in Jamaica. He was an original member of The Wailers and his father Thaddeus Livingston lived with Marley's mother in Trenchtown, after the death of his father in 1955 They had a death of his father in 1955. They had a daughter Pearl Livingston.Bunny was the quietest of the Wailers and rarely sang lead vocals. He was a percussionist and sometimes felt undderused d as a songwrititer. Wh When th the group dissolved Bunny went on to pursue a successful solo career. He was very much a "roots" reggae artist and spread the Rastafarian word. In 1990, 1994 and 1996 Bunny Wailer won Best Reggae Album Grammies.He is still alive today and is said to live on a farm in the Kingston region.

Peter Tosh

Was born Was born Winston Hubert Winston Hubert McIntosh October 19, 1944. He too grew up in the Jamaican slum Trench Town and met Marley and Wailer there. He would also go on Wailer there. He would also go on to become one of the Wailers. Tosh was a tall sarcastic young man with a short temper and was always getting into trouble. He sang and played guitar from an early age and was the driving force that brought the Wailers together. He taught Marley how to play the guitar.In 1973 Toshh was in a car acciddent with his girlfriend that killed her and severely fractured his skull. He became increasingly difficult and
eventually in '74 left the wailers. Tosh was a conttroversil ial artit Hi tist. His music very politically motivated. He was always pushing his luck with the authorities and was beat and jailed a luck with the authorities and was beat and jailed a number of times. This never discouraged him and he wore his scars with pride. His song Leggalize It is an anthem for pot smokers around the world, but his success was always overshadowed by Marley.He went into exile in '83 and was just about to get his career back on track when he was murdered on September 11 1987 by ex-con that he had befriended.

Joe Higgs
Joe Higgs was born June 3 1940 and was was born June 3, 1940 and was a reggae musician from Jamaica. In the 1960's he was part of the duo Higgs and Wilson together with Roy Wilson.Is said to be the "Father of Reggae". Higgs toured with the Waillers i in the'70 in place of Bunny. Higgs is also from Trench Town and he was the first artist to write reggae about the struggles of living in day to day poverty. He recognised reggae as ghetto music. He was a mentor to the Wailers and they consider him a brother and credit him with teaching them about music and the business.Higgs died on December 18, 1999 of Cancer. Some of the more recent artist include Shaggy, Bedouin Soundclash, UB40, Sean Paul and Beenie Man.
